Experience the wilderness in London this Spring

Dec, 09th 2009 19:38:38

Even if you head to a major city for some time away, you don't have to spend your whole vacation surrounded by buildings, people, shops and traffic.

If you're interested in booking with the Melia White House in Regent's Park London, it might be a charming idea to take a day trip to Wilderness Wood located in East Sussex. Follow some of the pretty trails as they wind throughout the trees and try to spot all different kinds of spring flowers, like bluebells and snowdrops.

In fact, if bluebells are your favorite flower, you can also choose to follow the bluebell trail through this ancient wood - it has been "productive" woodland for more than 2,000 years and the Romans had two iron smelting sites located in the wood.

Visitors should expect to see more than 25 different kinds of tree, from hornbeam to chestnuts as they walk through the area. In the winter, guests can also pick and cut their own Christmas Trees from the protected pine wood.

After rambling through the trees, stop in the souvenir shop to pick up a reminder of your woodsy walk.
